Orientation
So, last week I had an orientation for goin abroad. It was pretty interesting to hear where other people were goin. I was so freakin tired tho, it was from 6-8, and i had class from 9am-6. The cookies were pretty dank. The orientation itself was freakin boring, but I got some good tips out of it. Pretty much, this is what i came away with-bring your own condoms, foreign-made ones aren’t reliable. We were told not to broadcast the fact that we were Americans, but to be proud of it…hm. I think I’ll just be me, I should be fine. We were told to not participate in any political riots as our insurance did not cover them, but our insurance DOES cover shipping our remains back to the states in case the case of accidents…hmmmmmmmm. Whatev, I’m ready to head out. Think I’ll be over my itching or will be able to deal with it……
Green Day Forecast
Today I took Oma to the Portland airport to fly out to Burbank. On the way back I reminisced on the middle school days (feel me NicK?) with a little Green Day. Felt the song “Paradise” kinda forecast what my trip is gonna be like. Here are the lyrics that I can relate to…
“Dear Mother
Cant you hear me whining?
It’s been 3 whole weeks
Since I have left your home
This sudden fear has left me trembling
Cuz now it seems that I am out here on my own
& I’m feelin so alone
A gunshot rings out at the station
Another urchin snaps & left dead on his own
It makes me wonder why I’m still here
For some strange reason it’s now feelin like my home
& I’m never gonna go
Dear Mother
Can you hear me laughing?
It’s been 6 whole months
Since I have left your home
It makes me wonder why I’m still here
For some strange reason it’s now feelin like my home
& I’m never never gonna go”
